2025 Fall Appeal

It has been a season of milestones for the Rudolf Steiner Library. We marked ten years in Hudson, NY, with a joyful gathering honoring the people and impulses that have carried the library forward. (Pictured below.) We also released the first issue of our revitalized newsletter—the first in sixteen years! —and launched the Encounters with Anthroposophy online biography lecture archive.

Our collaboration with Lightforms Art Center continues to blossom, bringing Steiner’s ideas into conversation with art and introducing countless new visitors to our collection. Of special note was the wonderful exhibition of famed painter Gerard Wagner, where we  displayed many dozens of books on Wagner to compliment the show.

These accomplishments reflect a library that is alive, growing, and reaching new audiences. Yet what many don’t realize is that Rudolf Steiner Library is an independent institution. The Anthroposophical Society in America does not fund us at this time. Every book we preserve, every reader we assist, every program we offer relies on the generosity of our members.

This year, an anonymous donor generously pledged a $50,000 matching grant to support Rudolf Steiner Library. In the spring, we raised about 50% of the funds, but we still have another $25,000 to go! The matching grant will cover 80% of our budgetary needs for this fiscal year, with the remaining funds coming from smaller grants and membership contributions. Your contribution helps us reach our goal!

Also, by becoming a member (or gifting a membership to someone you know), you help ensure the continuity of the only national anthroposophical library in the United States. Membership offers rich benefits, including access to our online repository of Encounters with Anthroposophy biography lectures; a digital subscription to our revived Rudolf Steiner Library Newsletter;  borrowing privileges from our growing collection of over 50,000 titles; research assistance in both English and German, and much more!

Your contribution sustains the people, programs, and collections that make this library a vital center for anthroposophical life in America.

Please make your gift today or share the joy by gifting a library membership to someone who would love to explore Steiner’s work.

With gratitude,
